About the book:
Miracle Drug (Abingdon, September 2015) Overcoming these odds will take more than a miracle drug---it will take a miracle. The infection wasn't supposed to happen, but it did. The treatment was supposed to take care of it, but it didn't. Then Dr. Josh Pearson discovers why---his patients, including the former President of the United States, have been dosed with a different strain of the original virus, one that is universally fatal. The only chance for survival is treatment with an experimental drug, but the manufacturer might already have discarded its supply. As if treating the President of the United States isn't stressful enough, the situation goes from bad to worse when Rachel Moore, a nurse Josh is falling in love with, falls ill. With the nation's eyes on him, Josh must pull off a miracle to save a man who holds a good deal of power and the woman who holds his heart. Purchase a copy: http://bit.ly/1L8pNgx

My Review:
I have been a fan of Richard L. Mabry, M.D.'s books ever since I read his first one and "Miracle Drug" reminded me how much I love his books! This takes suspense to a whole new level as the medical profession is tied in as well as needing to protect one of the most influential individuals in the United States. Dr. Josh Pearson is shocked when a colleague suddenly dies and he is appointed as the physician to an ex-president, shocked over the supposed cause of the death, but also shocked at the appointment. When Former President Madison and a nurse who had traveled out of the country return to the United States with a very rare infection, Josh is forced to make difficult decisions under watchful eyes. Adding to the stress, Josh is in love with the nurse, Rachel, and this seems to be his second chance at happiness.
This book begins with drama and throws the reader right into the midst of the action and suspense and holds the reader's attention all the way to the end. There are so many other characters that are involved as Mr. Madison is so important that he is constantly surrounded by people of power and those whom have connections around the world and are able to make things happen. However, Josh quickly learns that one can never be too trusting and money and power may be stronger than loyalty. I found myself guessing and changing my mind several times throughout the book as I thought I knew who was behind something and what someone else was up to, but I was surprised and eager to read on and unravel all of the layers of the story.
I highly recommend this book for those whom enjoy suspense with romance sprinkled in and the medical aspect is an added bonus.
