Available Today - "All That Really Matters"

 

The latest book by Nicole Deese should be the top of your must-read list, it is that good!  And look at that gorgeous cover as well!

Molly is a social media influencer.  She has a ton of followers and is used to getting likes and shares with her content.  However, her best friend is a woman who has worked for her and lives hundreds of miles away and they have never actually met in person.  When an opportunity arises that may help her to promote herself and her career even further, Molly will do what it takes to land this deal.  Although, Molly has not really worked with people face to face and those in need, she knows this will give her the edge she needs and so with the help of her brother, who is also a Pastor, she finds herself at a beautiful place that has been turned into a transitional home for older teenagers who are transitioning out of foster care.  However, Molly does not receive the warm reception that she is used to receiving from those she comes in contact with.  Silas takes his job as director of this home very seriously as he must do all he can to help these young adults be successful and find their way in the world, by making positive choices and being on the right path.  Molly is the last person that Silas would like to see working with these impressionable young people.  However, they both realize that appearances are not everything, and they both might need something more than what they currently have in their lives.  

This book is so well-written and there are so many layers to the story.  So many individuals connected, yet still lost and trying to fine their way.  So many past hurts and situations that have led to where each person is at in their journey.  So much healing and peace to be sought after and found.  While Molly and Silas are the main characters, there are so many other characters that really play such important roles in the series and I loved as well.  I found myself completely caught up in the storyline and in the characters' lives as Nicole does such a fantastic job with bringing the characters to life.  This is a book that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

"Can't Buy Me Love"

 

"Can't Buy Me Love" is the next book in the Deep Haven Collection and it is another great book set in the wonderful community of Deep Haven.  Ella is trying to make a name for herself in the cleaning world as she is passionate about the cleaning products she makes and the job she does.  When the opportunity to present this idea that could be a life-changer for her does not pan out, she is frustrated and disappointed and not sure of how to continue on.  After being sentenced community service she finds herself face to face with Adrian, a man partly responsible for the turmoil in her life.  Throw in a step-mother and step-sister who are not fans of Ella and blame her for their troubles and a Cinderella type story is what this is.  

Deep Haven is a place that so many visit and have stayed in due to love found and the close knit community.  These authors have managed to capture the magic and feel of Deep Haven in this series and I have been so impressed by these books.  I loved how real these characters are, their faults and struggles and how there is not a quick magical fix, but having to work through them just like in real life.  I really enjoyed the interaction between Adrian and Ella and how their real personality and self shone through.  The healing that the characters needed to experience and work through was powerful and I found myself wanting to spend more time with the characters and in Deep Haven as this is a place that everyone could use in their lives.

"Still The One" - a sweet return to Deep Haven

 

"Still the One" is book #1 in the Deep Haven Collection and it is such a sweet return to the town of Deep Haven.  Reading this book felt like coming home and it was so easy to get caught right back up with the locals.  

Cole left town years ago, not on good terms, and he is not thrilled about having to return.  However, he is the one who has to deal with his grandfather's house, and he wants to get it on the market and sold as quickly as possible.  However, he was not prepared to have to evict a tenant out of the garage apartment and was definitely not prepared to have it be Megan, a friend from his past.  Growing up Cole spent some summers in Deep Haven, and they were happy times and much of that time was spent with Megan.  However, things had changed when he had to move in with his grandfather and the scars from when he was fourteen are still very much there.  Megan is trying to provide for herself and her son and is so close to reaching a few goals in her life with her business and for herself and son; getting evicted will not be a help at all.  

Immediately, and much to his surprise, Cole is welcomed back to town. (I was not surprised knowing the Christensen family!)  However much Cole resists, he cannot help it and gets drawn into the town and especially into Megan's life as he bonds with her son and also helps her with a wedding she is planning.  Forgiveness is such a big piece to this story as is grace and family.  While Cole and Megan are the main characters, the other characters play such big roles, especially Ivy and Casper to just name a few.  Their friendships, their stories with their spouses and how they got to where they are now with their family, the heart of the town and the support they all give to each other is so important to this story.  

If you have read Susan May Warren's Deep Haven and Christiansen family stories, this book and the upcoming ones in this series are a must-read.  In all honesty, I was not sure how this was going to be given that the book is not actually written by Susan May Warren, but no worries, it seamlessly fits and it is a wonderful return to Deep Haven.

Welcome to Walker Beach!

 

Lindsay Harrel has quickly become a must-read author for me and this latest book from her did not disappoint in the least!  Family, such a big part of who we are, and we can find ourselves placing so much pressure on ourselves to prove something or to feel accepted by our families.  Lindsay tackles this in this latest book and I think that is part of what drew me in, as the characters are so relatable!  

"All of You, Always" is the first Walker Beach Romance in the series and it was such a great start!  Bella is on a mission to convince Ben to sell his inn as her mom has made a deal with her and she really wants this deal to work out.  Bella does not know who her father is as her mother has never shared this information with her and now she is willing to on this one condition.  However, Ben is determined to make the inn successful, he cannot fail, and be the first in so many generations to fail.  

Both of these characters are searching for things in their lives and yet their lives are intersecting and they both cannot win and get what they believe they need to feel accepted and be happy.  This is a heartfelt story that will draw you into the characters' lives and leave you wanting more time with them. The writing is excellent and the characters and setting come alive in the pages.

"To Steal A Heart"

 

I am always excited to hear that Jen Turano has a new book coming out!  Part of this excitement is the cover reveal; Jen's novels have the best covers, always full of detail and so fun!  Also, the covers are a little look as to what is to come in the story.  "To Steal a Heart" is the start of a brand-new series and as soon as I finished this book I was looking forward to the next book to come out!  Right away on the first page I was completely hooked on the story as Gabriella is finding herself in quite the situation, a situation that could go very badly very quickly.  Gabriella grew up on the streets and then lived in an orphanage and her determination and grit shines through as well as her heart.  Nicholas is in a very different position in society than Gabriella; however they once were living very similar lives.  Thinking that they have forever lost each other, this is a surprise and as their lives continue to intersect, they both must make some decisions.  

I cannot tell you how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book and other times that I was smiling and just feeling happy for the characters.  This is such a fun read; however there are many touching moments as well and a good reminder of God's protection and His provision in our lives.  I highly recommend this book, it will be a great one to start the year off with!

My Review:

Lisa Harris has become one of my favorite authors as she writes stories that are non-stop action from start to finish with twists and turns along the way, with some romance sprinkled in with the suspense.  

Madison and Jonas are on a mission, a typical work mission, that can be typical in their line of work.  However, when the plane they are on with the two prisoners crashes, their work takes an even more challenging and deadly twist.  Finding themselves alone with one of the prisoners as the other one is deceased as are the pilots, they find themselves trying to still complete their job.  Trying to stay alive becomes the main focus as they find themselves trying to stay one step ahead of their prisoner and yet manage to fulfill their duties.  I am eager to see what comes next in this series for Madison and Jonas both work related and in their personal lives.
