"The Day the Angels Fell" by Shawn Smucker is
classified as a young adult book, but it is one that adults will enjoy and
leave all the readers thinking about it long after they finish reading. Samuel's summer is one that is the worst as a
spiral of events have taken place, one being that his mother has died. This sets Samuel on a journey to find the
Tree of Life to see if there is a possibility of bringing his mother back to
life. However, is death really so
devastating or is death a gift?
This is a really well-written book and I loved how the style
of it reminded me of books that I read years ago, when I really was a
teenager/young adult! The mythical part
of the story is interwoven in nicely so that it adds to the storyline and yet
there is so much realness there that is a nice balance. "The Day the Angels Fell" will completely
draw the reader in and give you a nice story with thought-provoking questions
and moments that will leave you smiling.
