Henry and Hitty are set to inherit the fortune from their grandmother, Lillian; however they must meet certain conditions, namely in regards to whom they each marry. Henry and Hitty are determined to keep this fortune away from Tristram, who it would go to if they are unable to meet the stipulations. However, this is way easier said than done. They are encouraged by their mother to read through Great Mary's journal to seek wisdom as they decide what to do as she is considered to be a wise, quite possibly the wisest person and was there from the start of Nantucket.
This is a really well-written book that is rich with historical detail. I absolutely loved the journal entries that are included from Mary as it adds so much to the story, as it's shares Mary's own personal journey. For anyone who wants to know more about the Quakers and the 1700's and mid 1800's, this is a book and series not to miss! This is a wonderful historical romance series from Suzanne and I am excited to see what she writes next!
