My Review:
This latest True Colors novel is a heart-wrenching, and terrifying read, but one that is so important as stories like this really did happen and it will make you hold your little ones just a little bit tighter. I was not aware of Georgia Tann and the Memphis Tennessee Children's Home Society prior to reading Lisa Wingate's novel, "Before We Were Yours," and that opened my eyes to this horrible piece of history. Now after reading "The Pink Bonnet" I have an even deeper understanding of this woman behind this scheme and I cannot even imagine this happening to me. I immediately liked Cecile and found myself empathizing with her; she is struggling on her own to raise her daughter, but this was never what she wanted or thought could have. Enter in Percy, drawn to Cecile, and not confident that she is fine as Miss Tann said, and he cannot let that go without knowing the truth. This is a story that will keep you turning the pages and totally engaged in the characters' lives all the way to the end.
